It's the thing, I guess....

Can you see this?

One month ago, Chuck and I went out to Oak Run to play on the lake. On returning home from that weekend, I made a discovery-I had left my only pair of glasses at the lake house. I despise my glasses, and do whatever I can to not wear them, but if they're not available to wear, the laws of nature dictate that I will definately need them.

Such is now the case. Yep...you guessed it. I am unable to wear my contacts at the moment. My eye has been so painful that I've not been able to wear my contacts for any length of time and have been taking pain medication for it (I'm seeing a "real" doctor tomorrow for it, although at work I had several vets offer to try to diagnose me). So I've not been using anything to assist my vision, and let me tell you, it's no fun staring at a computer screen all day leaning in so I'm 1 foot away from the screen. I also can't drive anywhere without putting my contacts in for short periods of time (and suffering in the process).

Maybe tomorrow I should just go buy a new pair of glasses as well.

Gone, but not forgotten

I was told earlier this week that Abbey came home for the last time. We all miss you.

New Car, part 2

For anyone interested, here are photos of my new car.

Mail

Ok. So I started this really long post yesterday when I was feeling kinda low, and now I no longer feel like posting the entire thing. So, I'll summarize in brief:

Last weekend my great-grandmother passed away. We went to the funeral Tuesday. I feel slightly guilty because the last time we went to Michigan, we ended up not having a chance to stop by and see her. Now it's too late.

Also last weekend my parents' dog once again was sick. She started having seizures, which is never a good thing in an older dog. The vet in charge of her has done almost every diagnostic test available in general private practice, and we're still no closer to determining the cause of her illness. It's very frustrating for us all, and distressing to my parents. I feel very helpless (not a feeling I'm used to).

My brand new car now has 2 chips in the paint. It's only 1.5 weeks old. One of the chips is a defect in the paint of the car from the manufacturer, but the other is either a door ding or a rock chip. So now my new car doesn't look quite so new.

After all the depressing news, I've rebounded slightly. Today I got loads of letters (well, not loads, but 3, which is more than I'm used to), and all of them from friends I haven't seen in a very long time. Nothing brightens your day like a little mail from friends you haven't seen in 2-5 years. And it was mostly good news. You can use email all you want, but sometimes it's nice to receive an actual card in the post.

Happy May Day

If we were in England, there would be no work today (yay for bank holidays).
